“A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change.
So let's all choose to challenge
.”

Gela Productions set off earlier this month to the land of 13 months of Sunshine, Ethiopia, as well as to Kenya ,to capture the stories of some of the most inspiring athletic gems ever produced from the continent.

Being that this week began the days leading to the International Women’s day Celebration, themed “Choose To Challenge”, we will share below some of the pre-eminent female athletes we found, who in their journey of breaking records, also broke many gender stereotypes, paving a way for future female athletes to be inspired and be taken seriously.

It has been said that one of the many ways of forging a gender equal world is by celebrating women’s achievements. Today, we as Gela Productions, celebrate Lornah Kiplagat.

The star athlete born in 1974 in Kabiemit, Rift Valley Province, Kenya, is the first woman to win both the Falmouth Road Race and the Peachtree Road Race. She won three straight World Road Running Gold titles from 2006 to 2008 and is the gold medallist at the IAAF World Cross Country and European Championships.

Apart of her impeccable athleticism, the athletic star founded the famous high-altitude training Centre in Iten, Kenya, that is 2400metres high above sea level where elite runners worldwide stay and train yearly, as they advance their fitness levels.

In the spirit of forging a gender equal world, let us continue celebrating women.
